Wari has cut the first beta for Pyblosxom 0.7. This version has a lot of rearrangements of the guts. I'm particularly proud of the comments system, which you've been seeing in action here on my blog for a while.

RSSBandit 1.1 supports gzip encoding.

That brings the gzip standings to:

Aggie 1.0 RC5 - supported
AmphetaDesk - no support planned until after 1.0

Channel Buddy - not supported - but private in-house aggregator used by "a total of two people in the world"

FeedReader - unsupported
Hep - supported in 0.4
java.blogs aggregator - no plans to implement GZip support
Magpie RSS - supported as of 0.5
NetNewsWire - added to feature request list
Newsgator - support as of 1.2 beta.
Newzcrawler - not supported
nntp//rss - supported in 0.3
ping.blog.gs - awaiting a reply
Radio Userland - unsupported but Andre Radke has written a plugin supporting gzip.
RSS Bandit supported in 1.1
SharpReader - Supported as of 0.9.0.2
Straw - supported
Syndirella - Simon Fell has released a version supporting gzip.
Wildgrape NewsDesk - Support in Newdesk 1.1

The JBoss team has updated their AOP documentation for JBoss 4.0. This document show how JBoss uses AOP to add transactions, remoting, security, and caching to POJO's (Plain Old Java Objects).

I'm not alone...

Sam Gentile confesses that he hasn't seen the Matrix Reloaded yet. Neither have I. I missed seeing The Matrix in the theatre, but it's probably my favorite movie (those of you who know that I watch very few movies will not be surprised). Not only that, my wife really enjoyed it, and SF Action movies are not her thing. So what's stopping us?

We'll be getting to it, but for now it's nice to have company. Maybe Sam and I should form a support group...

Americans can't handle death

Dana Blankenhorn describes former Vermont governor Howard Dean's explanation for why health care is so expensive in America. I don't know about the financial angle, but I think its certainly true that as a people we are looking to avoid not only death, but aging, which is the precursor to death.
