I've seen two OS/400 related posts in the last two days, so I thought that I'd highlight them.
Richard Demers' post focuses on the
hardware architecture of the AS/400 and describes how the system is "object-oriented" from the ground up. The OSNews article gives a brief overview of
the OS/400 database/filesystem. This article was a response to the Longhorn WinFS vs Gnome Storage debate.
The AS/400 (System 38) is the sole survivor of all the systems described in Henry Levy's Capability-Based Computer Systems, one of the almost extinct branches of computer systems...
