Bitkeeper and open source project management
NewsForge has a two part series on the role that Bitkeeper has played in improving the development process for the Linux kernel. I found this to be interesting because the Linux kernel is a very different development model from what I'm used to at the ASF. The ASF style is more consensus oriented, while the Linux kernel has scaled quite dramatically via the maintainer/sub-maintainer model. It seems pretty clear from the article that the introduction of bitkeeper has been responsible for allowing the maintainer model to scale up even more, and become more efficient.
