The Paperless Office and K-Logs
There's a chapter in
The Myth of the Paperless Office titled "Paper in Support of Working Together" that is really relevant to weblogs and k-logs in particular. In observing how people were willing to use a document / knowledge management system, the authors concluded

The correspondence, notes, and other documents such discussions would produce formed a significant part of the documents buyers kept. These materials therefore supported rather than constituted the expertise of the buyers. In other words, the knowledge existed not so much in the documents as in the heads of the people who owned them -- in their memories of what the documents were, in their knowledge of the history of that supplier relationship, and in the recollections that were prompted whenever they went through the files.This book is stirring up a lot of thinking for me -- since of of the ultimate goals of my weblogging is to have a personal k-log. I sort of see a Chandler + pyblosxom + who knows what as the substrate for such a system.
