Kids blog

Julie's let the cat out of the bag: she's set up a blog for the girls. This makes us a total blogging household, which is kind of scary. At the same time, I've heard a number of comments about wanting to take a picture to go on the blog or wanting to write about something on the blog. It's a great motivation for them to see some of their own creative work come into being. Next thing you know they'll be podcasting...

Watch your pets, it could get even scarier - my dog has had a weblog at http://chienchien.bestiole.ch/ for a while now, when she had her puppies (It's all in French though).

I think this is possibly one of the most valuable learning experience you can do for your children. I am 17 years old, and I write semi-frequently on a Java programming blog. This is the only way I have found to discuss my interests with others - those around me tend to either not to understand or care. Thru blogging, I have been able to find a mentor who is an exec at Sun Microsystems to help me explore Java and choose my career. Without this, I would be both bored and lost.

Your children are not the age yet where this is as important - but the time will come. One of the things Blogs can teach kids is that they deserve to be taken seriously, and that ideas are valuable. Growing up with a blog is a great thing - good idea to set one up
