No April Fools here. I think that the PyBlosxom comment/trackback/pingback code has settled down enough to put it up on my blog. Notice, I said settled and not bug free. Commentary welcome!

Ouf ! (as we say in french)
1) I missed one heart beat reading Wari's post on the mailing list. Fortunately, the web page was more informative. I love the:
> Python is too much of a kiddish language, everything I want,
> I can do and actually understand what I code
2) I was waiting for comment, now, here they are. I'll go to cvs and put them on a secondary location for some days, to test them.

This bring the question:
Can we have a default rendrer for comments wich insert
for one return and
Can we have a default rendrer for comments wich insert
for one return and
for two return. We can consider that visitors don't know or don't want to tag in html....

It does not accept a comment without an URL. This may be a problem for visitors not having a site. Coult it be that an email adress is enough ?

I got this to work in my site, and don't mind me for saying that I took it back down until this is kind of stable :) It's definitely exciting indeed.
There's a lot of questions in my mind like why don't comment-body.flav work, and how do you get rss to work, etc, etc..

will you be adding tags to your rss-feed as well?

oops - make that <comments> tags. ;-)
you may want to state somewhere that html is allowed in comments.
I assume you are filtering out potentially dangerous html-tags (<script>, <object>, etc.)?

Luke,
I just grabbed Sam's code for sanitizing comment bodies. For now that should keep nasty stuff out.
You can add comment stuff to the RSS feed by modifying the comment.rss flavour template. Is there a spec for comments in RSS files?

Use the <a href="http://backend.userland.com/rss#ltcommentsgtSubelementOfLtitemgt"><comments> sub-element of <item></a>

looks like the sanitize-code does a bit more than I expected, I would think a-href tags should be allowed... or does it automatically turn urls into links like MT does?

This is a test to see if autopinging works. If it does then this excerpt should appear on this posting.

There should also be a test ping on Sam's blog here (Sorry for the mess, Sam)
