CVS woes
While upgrading the OSAF infrastructure we got a newer version of CVS. The version is so new that it doesn't work with the default version of CVS provided with MacOS X. So this afternoon I took a detour to grab a copy of CVS 1.12.3 (later even than what is Finkable), and install it. The first attempt was abortive because I tried to build the HEAD of the CVS CVS. After that I gave up and downloaded a tarball and built that instead. I don't understand why the CVS guys keep breaking stuff like this (or why Apple isn't keeping CVS up to date in Panther -- you get 1.10 which is just too old). I did get subversion installed on my Debian box at home and I Finked a client for the powerbook, so perhaps in the next few days you'll get a report on that.

FYI, I heard on ruby-talk that as of earlier this week the svn client in Fink is broken.

It is now some time ago I read about this new freaky completely distributed revision control system Arch implemented as a set of shell scripts. But that was then. Now it's been reimplemented in C and the frontend isn't called larch , but tla .
