tcpsound and peep
Today I came across tcpsound, which plays sounds in response to network traffic. This sounds very much like peep which was the subject of a LISA paper.
I bet neither of them work on Mac OS X...

Woah! I've been following Peep for some time (though nothing much has been done with it for over a year). The guy wrote Peep for his senior thesis at Tufts. I never saw the LISA paper, though.
And I just discovered tcpsound as well (I saw their latest release on freshmeat).
I have no clue if Peep works on OSX. I think 0.5 has support for ALSA, but I really have no clue how sound works on OSX.

Actually I think it should work on Mac OS X. At least libmba is POSIX and I know libsdl runs on OS X. You'll need a compiler and header files and so on but it's not a lot of code.
