Dashboard was one of the features in Mac OS 10.4 that a lot of people were looking forward to. It hasn't turned into a mainstay for me, but there are a few widgets that I use when the occasion warrants it, mostly the weather, the package tracker, and the stock ticker.
Bret Victor has built a BART Widget which is a complete off line trip planner for people who ride BART. When I got to San Francisco to visit OSAF, I usually take BART to and from the airport, at least. Since I'm a very occasional rider, something like this will be a great help to me.
