Scratched me eyeball
I've worn contacts for about 18 years now, with nary a problem until this week. On Wednesday, the left eye started acting up. It felt like there was something under the lens, so I pulled it out, cleaned it and put it back in. But it kept bugging me, so mid afternoon I took the contacts out and put my glasses on -- good thing I have a recent prescription.
Yesterday things were better, but after dinner the eyes started acting up again. So when things got a bit itch this morning, I decided it was time to have it looked at.
So this afternoon I trotted down to the optometrist, where I was diagnosed with an abrasion on the eyeball. No cause was given, and the prescription (so far) is stay out of contacts for the weekend, and take these eyedrops every two hours. Not too bad, and if there's no infection, no big deal. But I had definitely forgotten how heavy my glasses are. Even with the best weight reducing glass, they are threatening to remake the landscape of my face....

I wore contacts continuously for years. Then one day i found they bothered me. Since then i've been unable to wear them for more than a couple of hours. Seems i developed some sort of reaction to them. Good luck :)

That's me. Since Ted scratched his eyeball, he's had to wear his glasses. He looks cute in them, but they hurt his nose and it's not ideal for driving. So I've become the official chaffeur this weekend. Usually if we...

Now you can justification for that LCD monitor! ;-)
Seriously, do you notice the irritation less with your laptop's LCD than desktop monitor? It was the case last time I scratched my eye, but that was at least 5 years ago, and LCD's weren't as bright.

I got a LASIK 3 years ago and haven't once regretted it. I went from a -8/-10 (right/ left) to 20/30.

Hi folks,
Finished my first full day back in contacts, and so far things seem okay.
So I guess there won't be a 23" Cinema display in my future (which is fine, because I'm curious about the rumored 30" display).
Also, a number of people have suggested Lasik, but I'm too old fashioned when it comes to my eyes.
